Funday Sunday 2025 - Thank You, EBC!
As I write it is Monday 30th June – the day after our annual Funday Sunday here at EBC. What a day it was! We had around 350 people, including helpers, and it was amazing and wonderful to see so many members of our local community enjoying the day. There were happy, smiling faces everywhere I looked – both on the faces of our guests and the fabulous team looking after them!
I often say that it is a huge privilege for me to be Minister and Team Leader at EBC, and never more so than yesterday. It really felt like the whole church family pulled together to make it all happen, with people helping out not just on the day but in the run up to it, working really hard in lots of different ways to make our building and gardens look and feel brilliant!
In no particular order, we have had people of all ages, shapes and sizes helping with… gardening, planting, painting, mowing, jet-washing, roof-scrubbing, window-cleaning, sweeping, leaf-blowing, van-washing, setting-up, clearing down, face-painting, cooking, buying the food, organizing the events, planning the volunteer rota, model-railway-operating, serving food, directing people, taking photos, washing up, hosting people, singing and playing musical instruments, and – most importantly – praying!
There are far too many names to mention, but I do want to single out one person, and that is “Mamma Eileen” as she was named yesterday! Eileen – and the whole team of people she pulled together for the day – made it all seem almost effortless, which is, I always think. a sure sign of extreme competence and care. I absolutely love being able to do the stuff I get to do, knowing that everything else is being really well taken care of. So many people said kind things yesterday – and I’m sure that the people who came were truly blessed and had a glimpse of God and His love through this little branch of His holy, mighty and eternal church!
