Angel Armies

I was telling an old friend a couple of weeks ago about two very memorable occasions when something really odd happened to me. The first was whilst selling a health club membership to an African lady (back in the days when I ran health clubs of course!). Just as I was explaining that she really didn’t need to rush into a decision and could take as much time as she needed to think about it, she suddenly looked at me piercingly.
“Are you a Christian?” she asked (though to be honest it sounded more like a statement than a question!)
“Yes, I am…” I replied, slightly bemused by the question, out of the blue as it came.
She then gave me the oddest look – it was as if she was both awed and really quite scared. She shot off quickly and I never saw her again.

The second occasion was when a guy who was very difficult, and a bit scary, was walking down the road towards me. I spotted him first and decided to get on the front foot (chest out, shoulders back… confident handshake and try not to look afraid!). We chatted for a moment and then he suddenly got this terrified look on his face and shot off. I’ve never seen him since.

As I told my friend these stories, I explained that whilst I had not seen or been aware of anything myself, it was almost as if both the African lady, and the scary guy, had seen angels standing behind me – that was the only explanation I could offer for these two very memorable and very weird encounters. And yes, I know how very odd that sounds!

Two days after telling my friend those stories, I was preaching on Sunday morning (this was a couple of weeks ago). After the service, another friend, who has a prophetic gift, emailed me with this message:

“I was praying for you and your preach this morning. I saw you standing. With angels behind you.”

Please believe me when I tell you there is no way this person could have known about the stories I had told just two days earlier. Needless to say I soon told her how amazing her email had been!

Always remember that God is a supernatural God, and perfectly at liberty to do supernatural things. He has armies of angels available to Him, and can send help from heaven to us at any time He sovereignly chooses to do so.

I want to encourage you to set aside any human feelings of doubt that you have and just humbly, thankfully present your requests to God, and trust that He will hear them and answer them. Armies of angels are at God’s service – why should we not ask God for their help and protection?

With much love,

Simon

"Whom Shall I Fear (God Of Angel Armies)" by Chris Tomlin

You hear me when I call, You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night, it cannot hide the light
Whom shall I fear?

You crush the enemy underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield, though troubles linger still
Whom shall I fear?

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies is always by my side!
The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies is always by my side!

My strength is in Your name, for You alone can save
You will deliver me, Yours is the victory
Whom shall I fear? Whom shall I fear?

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies is always by my side!

And nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in Your hands
I'm holding on to Your promises
You are faithful, You are faithful!

And nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in Your hands
I'm holding on to Your promises
You are faithful, You are faithful, You are faithful!

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies is always by my side!
The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies is always by my side!

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies is always by my side!
The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies is always by my side!

The God of angel armies is always by my side!

I am New

Welcome from all of us at Easthampstead Baptist Church!

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you explore our website, we hope that you catch a broader glimpse of what EBC is all about. It's about people - people just like you - who want to embark on a journey to discover more of God and his will for our lives.

What should I expect on a Sunday Morning?

Sometimes going to a church for the first time can be a little daunting. I promise we won't bite! To help ease any uncertainties below are the answers to some common questions people have before attending a Sunday morning.

What do I have to wear?
We are a 'come as you are' sort of people and have no formal dress-code for our Sunday services.
We can assure you that we don't have bouncers on the door vetting your attire!
If you are still not sure, feel free to check out our services on YouTube to have an idea.

What time do I need to be there?
At the moment we have one Sunday morning service which starts at 10.00am.

On the 4th Sunday of the month we run our All-sorts service which starts at 10:00am.

Check out our other services below!

We would recommend you turn up 10 minutes before the service starts so you have a chance to say hi!
If you have children that need signing in to the children and youth work, they need to be signed in from 9:50am.

Parking
There is plenty of parking both out the front and at the back of the building. Just follow the signs!

How safe is my child in your care?
We run separate children and youth work during our 10:00am service, which is run by a group of volunteers who have all been DBS checked.

Children ages 11 and under must be signed in and out by their parent/carer. The youth can sign themselves in and out.
