Biblical Basis for Storehouse

In 2013, we were challenged as a church to look again at a passage from the bible that is really important to us. It is in a part of the bible called “Acts” which describes what Jesus’s first followers did after his death and resurrection. It is actually a really exciting account of the birth of the church, and it describes the kind of things that they did. This passage serves as a model for the kind of church we want to be at EBC, and the part we have highlighted in bold & underlined below inspired the idea for a new kind of Storehouse :

Acts 2:42-47 (New International Version) :
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship; to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
