Dogged by Good Luck (part two!)

Last week I reported that I’d had a close encounter with a lovely Border Terrier and this morning I was ‘dogged by good luck’ still further! It is Thursday as I write, and our church building is in use as a polling station. By the way, the official in charge of the polling operations said that he loves coming here and really appreciates the fact that he is given the church building as his polling station as we’re the best!

After a pleasant chat inside, I popped outside and saw one of our lovely members, Helen Morgan, with her dog, Luna! As Helen knows I am very keen on dogs (but sadly have not yet persuaded my wife Claire of the wisdom of acquiring one) she was very willing to allow me to come and say hello to Luna. I think we make a lovely match!

Simon and Luna

Meeting Luna really made my morning and put a spring in my step - and I got to wondering about the things that refill and replenish us. It may be beautiful scenery, or uplifting music, it may be reading the Bible or spending time in prayer. Perhaps it’s walking and talking for you, or just being in the company of people you really like? Whatever it is, I encourage you to think about the “what and when” of those things that refresh and refill us – and get some of those things booked in!

Much love,
Simon

Psalm 57:7-11 (New Living Translation)

7 My heart is confident in you, O God;
    my heart is confident.
    No wonder I can sing your praises!
8 Wake up, my heart!
    Wake up, O lyre and harp!
    I will wake the dawn with my song.
9 I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
    I will sing your praises among the nations.
10 For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
    Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.
    May your glory shine over all the earth.
