Last Year
Following the tremendous success of our Church Weekend Away in 2011, we are planning to go again in 2012. Last year we had an amazing time of great worship, teaching, prayer ministry, kids work, youth work, football, walks, entertainment, food and enjoying just being together.

This Year
We expect 2012 to be even better! We are going back to Wellington Country Park and we are planning bigger and better things as well as some returning favourites from 2011. Phil and his team from Destiny Kids will be back to do the kids work, the team from Warfield will be back to do the youth work and David and Anne Brown are back to lead the teaching and prayer ministry for the adults. We are also planning an increased programme of social activities and entertainment.
We have learnt some lessons too from our first year of doing this in 2011. We want to make it better and have more space for day visitors so we have ordered a bigger main marquee and we will be appointing a day visitor hospitality coordinator. We will be making more of our time on the Sunday and have a fuller programme on that day. We also want to try and make the costs easier to understand (see below)!
We will again be hiring in marquees, showers, toilets and generators. Those with tents and caravans can camp on the Rally Field and those who prefer their home comforts can travel in each day.
When
We will be there from Friday 4th May until Monday 7th May (a Bank Holiday) and the weekend will include great food, good company and lots of fun. We shall be providing evening meals together on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On the Friday you can arrive from midday to set up and we will be starting with an evening meal at 7pm followed by a time of worship to begin the weekend. All organised events and activities will finish at 10pm on the Sunday night and we will be packing up on the Monday morning.
Theme
Our theme is ‘Pursuing Authenticity.’
Where
All of this takes place in the spectacular setting of Wellington Country Park with all of its facilities that we can make use of during the weekend.
Wellington Country Park was established in 1974 by the Eighth Duke and Duchess of Wellington, who wished to provide a destination where the growing population of the Thames Valley could enjoy outdoor pursuits, discover natural history and develop an interest in the countryside. The Park boasts a wealth of attractions and facilities to entertain young and old.
Set in 350 acres of beautiful parklands surrounding a 35 acre lake, there are numerous activities to keep the kids happy including: Adventure play area, toddler's area, sand pits, water play, slides, miniature railway, enchanted forest, nature trail maze, 9 holes of crazy golf, plus an assortment of play equipment to climb in and on, all ensuring a fun filled day for all!
Within the woodlands, there are four nature trails to follow taking in sights of the vast array of wildlife in their natural habitat.
Included in our stay on the campsite, is FREE entry to the Country Park where the kid's can let off steam and the not so young can enjoy the grounds.
