Jesus 3D Passages

jesus 3dDuring our series entitled Jesus 3D we have been talking about getting to know the real Jesus. In order to be able to really meet this Jesus and to know how he would respond to particular circumstances and how he feels about us and about situations we might find ourselves in, we need to read the stories of his life. These stories can be found in the accounts of Jesus' life in the Bible.

Who was Jesus really?
What was he like?
What culture did he live in?
Why did he die?

2000 years on from Jesus we investigated who Jesus really was and what possible relevance he might have for life today.

We met at 9.15am and 11.15am at our church on Sunday 6th September, Sunday 13th September, and Sunday 20th September to understand 'His Significance', 'His Sacrifice' and 'His Relevance'. Each of the gatherings included worship songs, prayer, multimedia presentations as well as the talk.

(Please click here to find recordings of other talks.)

Listed below are some of those stories from Luke's account of Jesus' life and the particular situations and circumstances that they speak to.

Temptation

Luke Chapter 4 verses 1-13 How Jesus responds to temptation.

Rejection

Luke Chapter 4 verses 14-30 Jesus is rejected, he knows what rejection is like and can identify with us if we feel that way.
Luke Chapter 7 verses 36-50 Imagine the woman, probably a prostitute, rejected by others and how Jesus' acceptance of her makes her feel.

The Unlikely

Luke Chapter 5 verses 1-11 Jesus calls the unlikely, imagine what it would have been like to have been one of the people Jesus called to follow him. These people would have been rejected as candidates to follow other teachers or rabbis and yet Jesus finds them and calls them. Jesus calls us however unlikely it may seem.

Outcasts and the Lonely

Luke Chapter 5 verses 12-17 Jesus touches the leper who would have been an outcast and no one would have touched him for fear of catching the disease and yet Jesus reaches out to him. Imagine what it must have been like for the leper. If we have ever felt like an outcast or lonely or unloved Jesus reaches out to us in the same way.

Sinners and the Hated

Luke Chapter 5 verses 27-32 Jesus reaches out to the tax collector - a sinner who everyone would have hated. Jesus says that he has come for sinners. Imagine what it would have been like to have been Levi in this story.

Religious Regulations

Luke Chapter 6 verses 1-11 Jesus makes it very clear what he thinks about religious regulations when they get in the way of what God is doing.

The Poor and Downtrodden

Luke Chapter 6 verses 17-26 Jesus tells us how he feels about the poor and the downtrodden and their place in God's kingdom. If you are feeling poor or downtrodden Jesus would say this to you. Imagine Jesus is speaking directly to you.

Enemies

Luke Chapter 6 verses 27-36 How we should treat our enemies.

Judging Others

Luke Chapter 6 verses 37-42 Jesus speaks about the dangers of judging others.

Grieving

Luke Chapter 7 verses 11-17 Jesus' heart goes out to the woman who has lost her son. This story speaks to us of how Jesus feels when we are grieving...his heart goes out to us.

When We Are Afraid or Worried or Anxious

Luke Chapter 8 verses 22-25 Jesus' disciples are terrified. Jesus is there for them. Imagine yourself as one of the disciples in this story.
Luke Chapter 12 verses 1-12 and 22-34 Jesus speaks to us if we are worried, anxious or afraid. He reminds us of how important we are to God. Imagine Jesus is speaking these words direct to you.

When We Feel Far From God or We Don't Know God

Luke Chapter 15 Jesus tells three stories about things that are lost and how they are found. Imagine yourself as the prodigal son returning home, how would it make you feel that your father reaches out and is delighted you are returning. That is how God feels about you.

What Does God Feel About Children

Luke Chapter 18 verses 15-17 Jesus tells us about the importance of children to God. Imagine yourself as a child being pushed away and then Jesus rebukes those who would push you away and welcomes you.

When We Are Betrayed

Luke Chapter 22 verses 47-53 Jesus is betrayed with a kiss. If we are betrayed we can be assured that Jesus knows what it is like and can identify with us.

When We Are Suffering

When We Are in Despair
