Dreamers of the day

At our Discovering Danger Prayer Meeting this Thursday morning we were watching a short film by Simon Guillebaud. (Simon has done some incredible work in Burundi). He introduced us to a quote from Lawrence of Arabia that goes like this:

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. This I did."

Simon Guillebaud added to this by saying that we should have more dreams ahead of us than memories behind. I thought that this was great.

I want to be a dreamer of the day. To have great dreams of what might be possible with God and then to go for them. Sure, I may fail from time to time, but I will also see some amazing things. Jesus said "What is impossible with human beings is possible with God."

So let's be dreamers of the day, dreaming of people coming to know God's love for them, the poor, lost and lonely being helped, the hungry fed, all of us growing in our faith to become more like Jesus and our community and nation being changed. And then let's work hard to go for our dreams and with God's help we will see some amazing things.

Go on, go for it, become a dreamer of the day and see what God might do!
