Shoeboxes

Back in November we made up shoeboxes full of toys for Operation Christmas Child who send the boxes to children around the world who are in desperate need.

It was a great day and one of my favourite Sundays of the year. Today we received this email in the office from Samaritan's Purse who organise Operation Christmas Child. I thought that you might like to see it.

On behalf of Samaritan’s Purse I would like to thank your church for their donation of shoeboxes to this year’s Operation Christmas Child campaign in Maidenhead and surrounding area.

I am delighted to say that the response to our campaign exceeded our hopes and expectations by some margin - we processed 7385 shoeboxes, compared to 6800 in 2010. This is an amazing achievement in view of the current financial climate and a testimony to the generosity and help that we have experienced this year from all concerned. I hope that you can pass on this good news, along with my thanks, to all the children and parents from your church who took part in making this campaign most successful.

Your shoeboxes have now all been checked and packed and sent to our warehouse. From there they will be sent to needy children in Swaziland, Bosnia, Serbia, Romania and Ukraine. If online bar-code tracking slips were included in your boxes, these will be processed in the next few weeks, and the individual donors will receive an email from Samaritan’s Purse to say which country the box was sent to.

May I take this opportunity to wish peace and blessings of the season to you all and thanks once again for making a difference to the life of a child this Christmas.

Kind regards
Janet McGregor

Great job everyone!
